I’m working on a project that I’ll be able to tell you guys about closer to the time when I want to publicly announce it, but for now, I really wanted to take the time to change the environment that I surround myself with every night… my bedroom! One day, I’d love my own office space, and I’ve been fortunate enough to have supportive parents who still house me (not ashamed, I’m still trying to find my way) and have allowed me to transform a room that we used to use for storage into a little filming and makeup studio. It’s still in the works, but I’m super excited to transform the space a little more. This definitely isn’t the best photo in the world… I took it with my iPhone in my poorly lit room, however, waking up to see a setting that makes me want to keep moving forward is really exciting and I really wanted to share it with you all.
For those of you who don’t really know me and my story, I am newly 25 years old and am not ever planning on using the Information Systems degree that took me 6 years of my life to finish because my passion is in makeup and makeup artistry. A 9-5 desk job sounds like a death wish to me and I refuse to become a part of society’s “norm.” It isn’t appealing to me. The benefits and yearly salary might be amazing, but would you rather sit around suffering through each day for money or would you rather pursue a passion that sparks excitement and creativity and drive every day of your life? I understand that a lot of people may not have the choice, but everyone does have the choice to make time for the things they enjoy doing. Have you been setting aside time? If you haven’t, I highly suggest it – it will keep you sane in such a chaotic world.
After years of dreading to read, I’ve finally picked it up as a hobby again. I love reading now! I am currently reading “She Means Business” by Carrie Green and have just recently finished a couple of other books by Cara Awill Leyba (obsessed with her!) and a few others that have really motivated to take my shit seriously. Seriously. #GirlBoss will be my next read, but for real for real, I am in love with the freshness of these women and how relatable they are. Pick up a book. A fun one preferably. Read it. You’ll only want to keep reading. Reading = learning. Grow & enjoy.
Mantras of the day: Enhance your space. Motivate yourself to become your best self. Enjoy the process. Be patient and be willing. Your habit is your lifestyle.
